Nothing could be simpler than the question of Christianity. Either Jesus rose from the dead or He didn’t.
If He did rise from the dead, as He said He would, well that’s pretty incredible and probably means something.
If He did not, well, then Christianity is just another false hope, like we’ve seen time and again throughout humanity.
But have you ever actually thought of the amazing story of Jesus? Not His birth, but from where He came?
He basically came from a podunk little town called Nazareth. From there He went to one of the power capitals of the Middle East and told those there that HE was the way to salvation.
Think about that. Think of some little rural, out-of-the-way town where you grew up. Think about a person coming from that town and going into the central city of your area and proclaiming to all who would listen that HE was the way to God and eternal salvation.
Odd, no? Would you take that guy seriously?
Yet 2000 years later, Christians proclaim Jesus as Savior and Muslims proclaim Him as prophet. Thus the vast majority of people in the world believe that Jesus was Divine.
Now you could argue that Jesus didn’t exist, I suppose. But that’s just silly.
You’ll have a much better argument by simply saying “there is no way a person can rise from the dead.” And you’d be correct in that.
Which is what makes the story of Jesus SUPERNATURAL, it is truly beyond the natural realm. No PERSON can rise from the dead. Thus Jesus is God, if He rose from the dead. Or it didn’t happen and thus there is no Christianity.
And we come full circle. Jesus either rose from the dead or He didn’t. Your choice.
But then you have to wonder why so many people STILL believe in Him to this day. I mean all the science, professors, elites worldwide doubt Jesus, why do so many people still believe?
Well in my case it was because the Holy Spirit speaking to me. No, the Holy Spirit didn’t move the clouds over and speak in an ear-shattering voice. Wasn’t like that.
It was simply in a time of despair an incredible feeling of peace overcame me and I heard the words, “it’s okay. It will be fine” in my head.
I will never forget it. Some doubt it was anything other than a mental defense mechanism trying to protect me. Maybe. But I know what I felt. It was the Holy Spirit.
Now, mind you, the Holy Spirit did not say, “You’re going to be rich.” Or “Nothing bad will ever happen to you”. No, no, no.
The Holy Spirit just said “It will be okay.” No promises, on this earth.
The only promise is that God loves me… and He loves you. He doesn’t expect perfection from you. He just wants to have a personal relationship with you. And He wants you to love him AND ask for his forgiveness for the sins you commit.
Do those two things and eternal salvation is yours. Can’t get any more simple than that.
It’s Grace my friends. Pure, Divine Grace. And it’s wonderful to behold. The most liberating thing a human being could have.
“Philip found Nathaniel and said to him, “We have found him of whom Moses in the Torah and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Nathaniel said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
