Medigap Plan F is by far and away the most used plan for Medicare beneficiaries. Nothing else even comes close.
But did you know that Plan F will be discontinued in 2020? So, if you are in Plan F now or are thinking of enrolling in it what are the implications?
Well, let’s look at what happened when Plan J was discontinued a few years back. No new enrollees means a growing, older and sicker population in the plan. What does that mean for premiums? Doesn’t take a PhD to figure out as the population ages and gets sicker with no new, younger, healthier people coming in the premiums go up. And that’s exactly what happened with Plan J.
Only seems to make sense the same will happen with Plan F too. So, it would behoove you to pay attention to your premiums and review your options each year.
